Which Pads Should I Choose?
Choose organic pads for light commuter e-riding in dry weather, and sintered brake pads for heavy e-bikes, cargo hauling, or steep descents.
Organic (Resin) Brake Pads
Pros: Quiet operation, strong initial bite, and gentle on rotors.
Cons: Wear out very fast under heavy e-bike weight; prone to fade on long downhills.
Best for: Lightweight commuter e-bikes and dry weather.
Sintered (Metallic) Brake Pads
Pros: Long-lasting durability, excellent heat resistance, and reliable wet-weather performance.
Cons: Louder or squeaky when cold and causes faster rotor wear.
Best for: Cargo e-bikes, heavy full-suspension e-MTBs, and hilly terrain.
Why buy from Bath Outdoors?
Unlike many online retailers, Bath Outdoors is an independent bike shop with a team of experienced mechanics and over 60 years of combined experience in the bicycle and e-bike industry.
We supply quality replacement components for a range of Engwe e-bike models from established, quality-assured manufacturers, including KMC, Shimano and SRAM. We select components based on their performance, reliability and durability, rather than simply choosing the cheapest available option.
Importantly, these are the types of quality components our own mechanics use when servicing and repairing customers' e-bikes.
Using good-quality replacement components can provide better long-term value. Durable components can help maintain reliable shifting and drivetrain performance while potentially reducing the frequency of component replacement and helping to keep maintenance costs under control.
Buy with confidence from an independent specialist bike shop that uses the quality components we sell in our own workshop.
